The problem is these cities settling out of court instead of taking these cases to trial where they would likely win the damn case.

naw I own a pittbull. been on over 19 years. he wasnt barking wasn't aggressive at all, he was coming to say hello. was he justified yes but man some cops are afraid of their own shadow and hes one of them. ive been bit by chihuahua's and smaller dogs more than once on the streets. I absolutely agree these trespassers absolutely should have control of their dogs especially a pittbull because all the bs media bias and false statistics. in this case i absolutely think its the trespassers fault 100000% but I also think that officer needs to learn more about dog behavior. maybe its me i am a dog lover but there are
other options and ways to handle it.

We are living in a land of entitled, irresponsible people. I don't know what to do.

I've tased a dog who tried to attack a Firefighter and then very aggressively came at me, second tase finally worked but if it came back I only had one more option...I would not have shot this dog. That said, the settlement is ridiculous

I wish the city was much like the federal government and wouldn’t pay a settlement, and if they did it would just because for the actual cost of a loss, and not compensatory damages. Because objectively, it there fault for not controlling their dogs, I have beagles, I know they’re friendly to me, but I DO NOT understand any circumstances let them meet others without a leash, and a collar with the capacity to correct the dogs behavior. If someone asks if my dog is friendly I tell them “no idea” because at the end of the day my beagles are animals and they have a high pray drive. Saying your dog is friendly to a random stranger is like telling your buddy a gun is not loaded, next thing you know the worst case scenario has occurred and someone has been harmed or killed
