Hi I’m an esthetician! Alcohol might stop acne short term but your skin is going to dry out and begin producing even more oil to compensate. When we talk about barrier function we are referring to the natural oils on the surface of your skin that act as a shield. You’re drying out all of the natural oils that protect your skin and causing what we refer to as transepidermal water loss or TEWL, because without those natural oils your skin can’t keep water in and bad bacteria out. This compromises your barrier leaving your skin even more dehydrated and susceptible to infections. I’d suggest an antifungal / antimicrobial face wash instead like Defense Soap or CLn SportWash which are made specifically for contact sports

They key is to use the alcohol first to get all the dirt then use a motorizing face cleaner to rehydrate the skin
