@deanna_art: Design the whole tattoo in black and grey first, get the values right, make sure every section reads clearly, and then add color on top. When you work this way, you are not guessing whether the tattoo works, you already know it does. Pick your accent colors, make sure no color is isolated in just one spot, repeat it somewhere else in the design to create balance, and keep your brightest accent away from anything competing with the focal point. Even if you were color blind, you could still make a great tattoo. Value does the work. Color just confirms it. Full video up on my YT :)
