Hi! I tried for MONTHS to find the right house scent. Tried hotel collection diffusers, pura, candles, everything. I got a lampe Berger oil lamp - changed the game. Light it for an hour a day and it fills our entire home.

I legit went into a hotel lobby in Dallas that smelled good and walked around the lobby until I found the diffuser they used and made my husband gift it to me lol. Anyway, it’s oil works and co if you’re interested!

So this is my Super Bowl.Yes, hypochlorous acid and good cleaning habits, a good laundry detergent but not tide like a high end laundry detergent mixed with unscented so it’s very subtle, a Maison Berger lamp before guests come over. Absolutely NO plug ins or whole house diffusers- those cover up odors and are suffocating

My aunts house is that of better home and gardens and growing up I always remembered her house having two signature scents depending on the time of year. She has dogs, horses, kids, etc. Her biggest advice to me was to ensure my house was neutral scented before using any fragrances to scent my home. Number 1 tip was a good either canister vacuum or bagged vacuum (she had one built into the houses), she cleaned with a lot of bleach, hydrogen peroxide, and baking soda so cleaning chemical scents didn’t clash with her home fragrance, she cleaned trash cans, sinks, toilets, and blankets every few days so they didn’t hold scents that linger. Fresh air every morning and every night to let your house air out especially with pets even if it’s just 10 minutes. Doors throughout the house open throughout the day to help circulate stagnant air so one room doesn’t smell stale compared the rest of the house. Skip the wallflowers, pura, etc. invest in quality candles that put off scent without even lighting, reed diffusers for small spaces, and fragrance oils for passive diffusing. Make sure the scents are from the same family ie vanillas with vanillas, lavender with lavender, santal with santal even if the brands aren’t the same try to make it harmonious. She had a home fragrance most of the year that smelled like her perfume so you always knew it was herShe had some tricks like fragrance oil on the air filter, on little felt stickies under her couch/coffee table/the cabinet she had her trash in, she would put frangrance oil inside her decorations like vases with faux flowers.

Please, please, please post what you try and what works. I tried Pura and they didn’t work. I do have candles Yankee and Anthropologie Capri Blue Volcano that I love but it can be overpowering and it’s not something you can balance well. As someone who cooks a lot, has 3 kids (2 of which do travel soccer) and 2 dogs, IYKYK the smells can be tough!

Not related but, I love using hypochlorus acid (spray bottle and I use it on my bed, dogs bed, etc.) for a scent I loveee the APFR incense - found it in Japan! I love the scent “Rufus”.

I air out my house 2 times a day regardless the weather ( NW Montana winters) do it earky morning and kate evening if too hot outside. and my friends and family associate my house with warm cinnamon and crisp air since I host more in the autumn and make homemade apple cider once a week.

I know it's not groundbreaking but - Febrez plugins in almost every room, room spray after I cook, fresh cut flowers, keep my windows open for fresh air as much as possible, wash your throws (blankets and pillows), deep clean/dust surfaces once a month or so, and always take out the trash if it starts to smell (even before it's full.) I do all of that on top of my normal cleaning of my home/myself. It gives me compliments on my personal and home smell.

My signature scent is soft cashmere and amber. It smells great all year round. I get it from Walmart. You can connect it to the HVAC system to blow it through the house.

I am realizing that I think the “signature scent” comes from a whole system. Your laundry combo, your plug ins, what you use to clean etc! I started focusing on choosing scents in each category that compliment one another if that makes sense??? Lots of linen/airy/freshness through cleaning products and laundry fragrance and maybe layer in florals/clean/musk/whatever is your fav type of scent through plug ins. I’m working on perfecting it currently lol
