No womb, 1 year anniversary... It's one year since my hysterectomy and so we celebrated last night in the garden. Losing a major organ is indeed major stuff. I had to make the decision due to having two completely impossible fibroids that were making life and work impossible. I'd wake up in the morning and they'd be protruding from my stomach like bricks. They were the size of my head. True story. They gave me so much pain and discomfort as they were literally taking up more space than was available, living rent free, squishing everything else around while I had to get on with life as normal. Solidarity and love to anyone else out there doing this right now! 'Women's health' (as it is so often still referred to tsk) or gynecology is sadly often chaotic, arduous and difficult to navigate. There are also different ramifications for people who don't align with their body bits so for me, talking about my womb was intense and stressful but it's sensitive for anyone because it feels so deeply personal and it is exactly that. Personally for me, having periods has been a monthly struggle, an alienating experience - I cried when I first got my period, I was filled with monthly dread so living without them, for me, is actually wonderful. And I didn't ever feel like I could personally have children so I'm ok now knowing that I can't. But mostly, I'm proud of myself that I'm up and at em. My fitness is really bouncing back and I feel more me than ever before. This is my experience of my body, many people have euphoric periods each month and wombs are utterly incredible as are the people that have them. But... Lost my womb, found my all. . . . . . . #hysterectomy
