I had a woman speed by and nearly hit my car while I was trying to park once and I made the impulsive decision to follow her so I could confront her. The moment I did, she immediately apologized. I still tried to explain how serious it could have been. That I was pregnant with my daughter at the time and that my son was in the car with me. She just nodded, then asked if she could give me a hug. It caught me completely off guard. Every defense I had up disappeared, and I hugged her. That was over three years ago, and I still think about her all the time. The kindness she met me with in that moment made me realize how much energy I spend trying to be tough. It changed how I respond to stuff like that, too. Big life realization that day and I doubt she even thinks about it. Interesting how life works like that because all I’ve ever wanted was someone to respond to me like that and of course it was a total stranger.

I once cried because a stranger in a car stopped for me when I was struggling with heavy bags from the grocery store, exhausted after shitty work and it was pouring rain. Someone stopped and waited for me to reach the crossing. Honestly I'm so used to being treated like shit that this random act of kindness is something I still think about years after
