@remedy1964: goldenerastories Clive Davis and Phyllis Hyman had a strained professional relationship during her time at Arista Records, which began in the late 1970s after the label acquired Buddha Records. They clashed over her creative direction: Phyllis learned towards jazz and theater performance while he wanted works with crossover appeal. The mismatch in artistic vision led to delays in output and poor record sales, leading her to get released from her contact. Phyllis would go on to sign with Philadelphia International.
