This is not a widespread issue at all. As a Chinese intl, 1. You need English proficiency to get an F1 visa to the US from China; I had to take the Toefl to prove it, 2. Amongst literally every Chinese intl I know nobody has any issue conversing at least semi-fluently.

University exams should be standardized, risen by highest level tbh. Knowing the current status of universith, i dont think theres a better time to standardize exams. Allows talented students from state schools to have greater opportunity to prove themselves.

Yeah, I was once looking at a college internationally and I believe it was like somewhere in Sweden or something about nature. And I’m an American. Literally one of the requirements to apply to the school as an international student you have to be fluent in the specific language that they teach in.

My college roommate lasted one semester because she was failing her classes. I was in a molecular and cell biology masters program which involves a lot of reading complex scientific material. She had textbooks in Chinese to help her but couldn’t keep up.
