That’s such a weird difference. I’ve grown up in Washington state but I just assumed that peers called each other by their first names.

Oh see this is so interesting. I teach and was raised in washington and that’s so normal. Every staff member calls each other first name unless we’re in front of students. I also always use my first name to introduce myself and talk to parents.

I think it is school to school or district to district because in my district we call each other by their last name unless we have friendships outside of school

Wait teachers also call each other Ms/Mrs/Mr? I assumed since their peers it would be first time. I get calling them ms/mr/mrs in front of the students though.

My wife has been a teacher in Everett, WA for over 10 years and your experiences are not hers. She would never allow kids or parents to call her by her first name.

I spent time in early childhood education and transitioned to older grades. I will always have my students call me Miss Tabitha. In early childhood it shows children to show respect and learn the importance of names and how to be respectful.
