In the Department of Homeland Security’s deal with CoreCivic, taxpayers are handing $1.1 BILLION in pure profit to the private prison operator, and continuing to pay the firm to run its modern day gulags in California. I’ll keep fighting to advance legislation to tax private prison companies’ profits, and ensure public dollars do not enrich corporations that enable ICE’s lawless violence.
