As always it’s capitalism. As a millennial I remember the early start of YouTubers and how it was all about joy, fun and sharing your ideas (even makeup and fashion hacks) just for the sake of teaching and inspiring. Until platform monetization and brands jumped in and realised they could profit from the parasocial relationship that the creators have build with their community

You’re so raw and interesting I could listen to you ramble all day. I find content creation so draining and your right it takes away the joy of life as it’s constantly on your mind. I hope you continue doing this and can find a manageable way to stay consistent. Hope you feel better soon 🥰

Ich lieb deine Einstellungen so - aber wie wird einem das alles ‚egal‘? Ich fühle deinen Content so viel mehr als iwelche ästhetischen Videos; nur komm ich nicht davon weg

I don’t want to be famous or make money off this app I just genuinely want to share my experience with chronic illnesses and my other stories to help others xxx

this is really intriguing and i think it comes down to idolatry (not in the religious sense). it’s human nature to cling to things they find inspiring but the internet has made that inspiration monetizable and almost impossible to distinguish what is genuine and what isn’t. so i also don’t think they should exist because it takes advantage of those who don’t know better and can’t critically consume the media the watch. i was a fangirl for over a decade and it took a lot of self growth to detach the person we see online to their person in real life and know that you can seek comfort and inspiration from someone online but they certainly aren’t all becoming and immune to character flaws. tldr; it’s human nature to follow people online but the internet/monetization part without regulation and critical consumption is detrimental to society

I identify and enjoy your bluntness. I don’t know if it’s the German or the spectrum, or a gorgeous blend of both? I enjoy authenticity- and sometimes that’s not what society validates. I’m here for sisterhood.

I think your way of describing your own life and what how we should try to inspire others is beautiful 😌 we need more people who are down to earth, showing them..living normal lives! “Influencers” are glorified salespeople and I am sooo over them trying to sell us a fantasy life and show off their all-expenses-paid trips while so many are struggling in the world rn!
