Nana I’m so ashamed that I can’t help you fix what’s so very wrong with us. The generational ignorance & racism seems to take hold everywhere. When we shine a light on it over here- then, over there starts up. When over there is highlighted it moves to yet another place. Each instance stands for a black woman missing, a black person cruelly and brutally mistreated, a young black man given an unreasonable prison term or a black baby shot to death while being embraced by his mother. I don’t know what to do. My outrage is palpable- but it doesn’t fix shit! My anger at the hate in this world doesn’t make it go away. I’ve tried reasoning with the devil. That didn’t work either. Why? Why is ugly hate & institutional racism still even part of the conversation? Exactly how many human beings will be mistreated, violated, murdered, abused and then forgotten… I’m not sure I even want to hear the answer to my last question. Because I fear it will not stop.
