"But there's life insurance" - Tell me you don't know how much money a person especially with kids needs to sustain even a simple life for possibly decades.

My mom was also a trade wife. And while my dad wasn't 100% awful, they both always told us that their daughters needed to have careers and support themselves.

My mom was a trad wife when my father dropped dead. She couldn't legally have a mortgage in her name so she had only a few short weeks to figure out how to support us and keep our home. Raised her daughters to be independent and educated!

Both of my grandmothers were trad wives - real ones, not those studied, aesthetic wives from TikTok, my grandparents farmed the land, so they never worked for money. Both of them told my sister and me their entire lives: Study hard so you can have your own life. And when I got married, both of them, independently of each other - although they adored my husband - told me: open a bank account that he won't know about, and put money in there every month, and never, ever quit your job. That was the only life advice they ever gave me.

This was literally the exact reason my mom drilled into us how important is was for women to get an education of some sort! It’s totally okay to be a stay at home wife but even in happy marriages stuff can happen and you need to know you can take care of yourself!

Being tradwife in a country where you and your family are one medical issue away from bankruptcy is crazy. If you husband can’t work due to a health issue then what?

I was a trad wife at 19. He died when I was 28. Before anyone freaks out… he was 30 when he died of a brain aneurysm. He wasn’t like 10-15 years older than me. We have 4 kids who were 9,8,3& 1 when he died. Thankfully I had gotten my degree and he also had great life insurance. The biggest regret of my life was my kids having to watch me figure it all out. I screwed a lot of things up. I did eventually get my shit together but it took awhile. But I have drilled into my kids heads to get your education, wait to get married and have kids, always be able to take care of yourself.
