When I came out to my brother and explained asexuality, he was surprised and innocently asked me "...Not even with Zac Efron?!" (my childhood celebrity crush). And I said "Not even him" and he nodded seriously and said he understood. It's the cutest reaction to coming out I've ever had.

I've never experienced sexual attraction in my life and one day it just hit me at random, at the most inconvenient time and place, and navigating it has been so difficult when I didn't experience these feelings during my teen years and I now have to figure this out as an adult. I had no idea what was going on and sometimes I still don't and it's honestly extremely annoying and difficult to deal with sometimes, but learning about stuff like this actually helps a lot

One of my biggest steps to realizing I was ace was when my friend asked what I’d do with a night alone with my favorite actor/musician and I said “cuddle and watch a movie.” She was aghast, and I very suddenly realized the celebrity crush thing wasn’t an elaborate joke 😅

I sometimes wonder if I'm ace because I just am, or if I'm so dissociated from my own body that I only experience those types of feelings when living vicariously through someone else (listening to others' stories, books etc.)
