@crmnallyobsessed: DID THE JURY GET IT RIGHT? A Florida jury found George Pino not guilty June 22 on all charges in the 2022 boat crash that killed 17-year-old Luciana "Lucy" Fernandez and left Katerina Puig with life-altering injuries. The teens were all partying on Pino's boat for his daughter's birthday when he crashed into a channel marker at 50 mph. In court, gasps, groans and other outbursts followed the reading of the jury's verdict. Pino had been charged with second-degree manslaughter and vessel homicide for Fernandez's death. Meanwhile, Pino embraced his lawyers, and repeatedly mouthed "thank you" to jurors and to himself between fits of sobbing. The verdict sparked emotional reactions from the victims' families afterward, as well. Fernandez's family said they were "deeply disappointed" by the outcome, adding that "justice was not served." Puig's parents say they "profoundly disagree" with the outcome and believe Pino should have been held criminally accountable for the reckless operation of his boat. Katherine Fernandez Rundle, the Miami-Dade State Attorney who prosecuted the case, acknowledged the pain the case leaves behind, saying the verdict brings no comfort to the Fernandez and Puig families. The prosecution accused Pino, a south Florida real estate mogul, of driving the boat recklessly while also under the influence of alcohol, but he was never tested for impairment after the crash. Pino's defense attorney painted the traumatic incident as a tragic accident, and nothing more. #JuryVerdict #FloridaNews #Courtroom #CrimeNews
