@lizbettalksmoney: I’m the first one in my family to invest at this level, and the only conversations I’d ever had about investing with my family revolved around it being “gambling.” 😅 Me being SCARED of investing is an understatement! But my job said they would match my contributions (aka, FREE money) and that sounded like increasing my income out of the gate - so I did it scared! Later I learned about the long term benefits of a Roth IRA, decided to open that account scared too! Then decided to pass on the benefit of investing to my kids by opening a 529 account for them.
