I had five lawyers during my divorce and escape from abuse. One fired me because I would not bend to being victimized through the court system. Another just dropped my case out of the blue and never told me why. The final lawyer told me at a meeting that I was not believeable. I died inside. I asked him how I was not believeable and was given no explanation. We finished our meeting. The next day he had a meeting with the reunification therapist team. They pulled an end run on him and then tag teamed him into a corner to coercive control the narrative of that conversation. I immediately got a call from him and was given an apology. He then fought a different fight for me. No one won this battle, not even the children. But what was recognized was the coercion and the behaviour of the other side. When in court the lawyer of opposition was creating distraction by behaving inappropriately and had to be told to stop by the judge a number of times until threat of removal happened. I knew then that the ex had nothing and that his lawyer knew there was nothing to do but collect his money. They asked the court that I pay all his fees for this action against me. Over $140,000. The court refused to make a single mother on disability pay for his BS. (on disability because of assults and abuse by the ex).My lawyer made sure of that. And finally none of my safety concerns were addressed. He lived across the street. I was allowed to have cameras pointing at his house and was put on 911 priority but that was all I got other than him ordered to not cross the road. It was a shit show of abuse through the system. I moved away and found my peace and healing.

my uber driver went on an anti-cop tirad last night... I mentioned how cops helped out with moving once.... He said "Well thats a domestic dispute just walk away" I am a DV survivor. I want to cancel so bad.

The counselling process alone is hard enough, retelling the events that took place even broadly can be re-traumatising. Then if you change counsellors or need see someone else, same again 🤦♀️

I don’t believe the stats are correct so many victims don’t come forward and they may suffer multiple horrible events from multiple people…

abusive behavior has been idealozed in the US, to the point of it blamong a rampe victim for being raped. IT IS NOT THEIR FAULT! It also happens when police unalive black folx - "but they probably didn't comply so now they're dead" - so effed up.
