@hannahtheguide: The royal cartouche is an oval loop of rope with a knot at one end. It developed from the ancient Egyptian shen ring, a symbol of eternity and protection. 𓍶 When the shen ring was stretched to enclose a king’s name, it became the cartouche, ensuring that the king’s name would be eternally protected. For example, this is the cartouche of King Menkaure. You’ll notice that the sun disk of the god Ra appears at the beginning of the cartouche out of respect for the god Ra. The name is read Menkaure, and it is commonly translated as “Established are the Kas of Ra” or “The Kas of Ra are established.”🕵🏽♀️❤️🇪🇬#egypt #fyppppppppppppppppppppppp #grandegyptianmuseum #fyp
