The old, "If you have nothing to hide", bull. They say this when you exercise your rights every time. Instead of realizing your just standing up for your rights they interpret it to mean you must be hiding something.

When they say to me “ well but I don’t have to. If you have no crime to commit then why won’t you let me look in the house? “I always tell them innocent people go to prison every day. And every time it’s because the person who is being thrown into prison for no reason whatsoever, and it’s completely innocent just volunteered all kinds of stupid information 100% convinced that nothing bad happened to that. Officer unless you can tell me beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is never been innocent person in prison or you’ve heard stories about innocent people be in prison, but you don’t believe one single one of them was actually innocent, even with DNA! Otherwise it’s not an issue of instance or guilt, it’s an issue of protecting myself from some Rob cop who wants to close a case, as meeting a quota, or just doesn’t like the person in front of them. That’s why I don’t volunteer information. Because even good cops get it wrong sometimes and I’m not paying the penalty by being stupid and just hand me over my ID and allowing you to roam through my house.

This kid is smart. If that cop goes in there, he opens himself up to criminal charges unrelated to the original reason. If that cop sees a small amount of weed, a pipe, a bong, or alcohol, then suddenly he's in cuffs for being cooperative.
