One day my kid told him if you want me to respond to you use my real name. I got an email from that teacher saying he respected him for advocating for himself and then apologized to my kid

My name is bri- ANNA I get bri-Awna all the time I don’t mind when ppl are reading it out loud to call me bc most ppl spell it the same way but insist the pronunciation is the different 🤨 anyway I started a new job at the hospital and when my new supervisor went to introduce me to everyone around the office she’d always say bri awna I would laugh and say well it’s actually this way she did this 5x by the time we got to the 6th person she was like I’ll just call you bri. Y’all these ppl just started calling me bri bri 😃 infront of these pts who also began to call me bri bri?!? Then I had a nurse I worked with who called me breyon. At tht point I just let her have I didn’t care what anyone called me. My mom came to relieve me for lunch abt a year later bc we worked together and heard her call me tht and was like tht girl name is not breyon and the nurse was so embarrassed 🤣

I was a newer nurse and I introduced myself to a general surgeon who said, “you’re a nurse I don’t care what your name is”. Later that day, I had to call him for a wrong order he had written. I said, “I’m just a nurse, but your order needs to be clarified for incorrect dosing”. Years later, he remembered that.

Damn if Tommy had a hard time with the name, imagine us immigrants 🤣🤣🤣 I hated the attention I got about my name ( throughout school years and nursing career). I hated being the center of attention during attendance and I have always been shy 😅 I did have a chance to change my name, but I couldn’t, that’s my identity, my origin , someone special named me. I am also 1st generation from my bloodline to move to US. I want to be easily traced if future generations want to know more about my journey in US. 😅 Anyway, bc I struggled with my name, I made sure I gave my children common popular names that are easy pronounced. 😁

When my oldest son was in the second grade, he had to write a story about his family (one of those fill in the info sheets), obviously he included his little brother and I would say has an average name that’s spelt slightly different. Leevi. My oldest son got his recess taken away for ‘missspelling’ his brother’s name. 🥴
