At the extravagant banquet of Trimalchio, a fictional wealthy Roman, guests were served a zodiac-themed platter where each sign received its own dish. ♑ Capricorn — Lobster ♒ Aquarius — Goose ♓ Pisces — Two red mullets ♈ Aries — Ram's-head chickpeas ♉ Taurus — Beef ♊ Gemini — Kidneys & testicles ♋ Cancer — A garland of leaves ♌ Leo — An African fig ♍ Virgo — Sow's womb ♎ Libra — Scales with a pastry and cake ♏ Scorpio — Scorpion-fish ♐ Sagittarius — Sea-bream The best part? This wasn't even the main course. After the zodiac platter was removed, guests were treated to stuffed capons, sow's udders, a winged hare dressed as Pegasus, and fountains of fish sauce.
