Psychology teaches us that when women live in a constant state of stress, fear, and anxiety, our bodies respond to it. We stay in survival mode—always on edge, always bracing for the next blow, the next crisis. It becomes our normal, but sis, that’s not how we were meant to live. Even today—15 years after I broke free and ran from my abuser—my brain still wants to stay in that high-alert mode. My thoughts run wild, always spinning with to-do lists and what-ifs. It took therapy, hard inner work, and a lot of grace to learn how to slow down, to calm that nervous system, and shift into thriving. Today, I feel safe. Mont makes me feel safe. But more importantly—I feel safe within myself. That’s something I had never experienced before. If you’re reading this and you’re still stuck in that survival space—I see you, sis. I feel you. If you don’t know where to start, reach out for professional help. I never thought I would either, but I did—and it changed everything. Therapy taught me how to breathe again, how to sit still with myself, how to feel peace. Meditation, breathwork, journaling… all of it helped. But it started with one brave step toward healing. You are not broken. You are becoming. I see your strength, even in the struggle. Keep going.
