I know a number of pro-life Democrats who are Catholics. It’s because they are not one-issue voters. In addition, they’ll tell you that many Republicans are really just pro birth, because once children are born, they do little to help them stay alive which impacts poor and working class families. They cut food stamps/food programs, subsidies for medical insurance, do nothing to lower drug prices that enrich the pharmaceutical industry, promote medical misinformation about vaccines that saves lives, do little to support affordable housing or childcare. And as Parker noted, they made enormous cuts to international aid that helps starving children and families, as well as reduce disease that not only saves lives overseas, but can also prevent highly contagious illnesses from coming to our country.
