it's not that they never teach you, it's the way they never give you the chance to feel confident, that way you keep telling yourself that you couldn't do anything. it's basically draining your self esteem.

My narcisstic mother always said “I bought this because you like it” without really understand my preference, even mocked it all the time. It was her preference that she bought ‘for me’.

Literally crying about this today , 24 can’t drive , teaching myself to budget and to process emotions in a healthy way and the way my head keeps speaking to me like my parents did , like I failed even without trying

While this is true, it’s gets a point where blaming our parents for what they couldn’t do isn’t going to help.

I’m 26 and work in retail because I can’t imagine myself to be capable of anything. I’m trying so hard to understand that I’m actually pretty smart and physically capable but I really can’t wrap my head around it. Doesn’t help when growing up friends would say “I can’t imagine you, like, in a relationship” “I can’t imagine you driving” or “cooking”, or “having a real job”. I can’t imagine myself driving either, I assume I’ll be the worst ever so I never try. Just like with most things

This scares me!!!! Am i a narcissist? I am a mom who does EVERYTHING for my daughter. She is an only child and i just think of her as my baby. I love catering to her and doing everything for her, its my love language (as well as gift giving). I just love her so much i want to make her life easy for her. I am a stay at home mom/wife and so i love doing all of the stuff, i feel like its my job, i get so much satisfaction from being the one who does it all. I sometimes realize that its probably a bad thing as she isnt getting very many opportunities to learn valuable life skills.
