@2nurseswhosew: Learning to sew on my 1901 Singer treadle machine and finally starting to get the feel for it. To start the machine, you have to spin the handwheel toward you and catch the momentum with the foot treadle. One thing I wasn’t expecting? To backstitch, you actually turn the fabric around and sew back over your stitches. 🤯 I may have missed catching the treadle on my first backstitch, but every bit of practice gets a little smoother. Looking forward to using this beauty for my current historical sewing project: a pair of 17th-century stays.
