(Not directed at you just in general and adding to what you said) You should be recycling SSDs, not storing long term like you said because SSDs need to be used every few months for them to be “turned on”. SSDs can and will format/glitch if not used or at least plugged in for a period of time. And they have a shorter lifespan than hard drives! I talked to a sandisk rep at a conference about this 😅

LaCie is just a normal HDD with rubber. Just by a normal HDD and buy a cheap case 😁

Is there a ssd you recommend for shooting direct/editing on iPhone? Struggling with iPhone storage and transferring over 🥹

We just have a fleet of SSD’s that we keep live projects on. Then transfer it to long term 12TB HDD’s once the project is mastered about

Prices have skyrocketed. I’m considering getting a NAS drive and recycling my SSDs. 🙃

Crazy how much more expensive they’ve become! I use a couple of the T9s, mainly as raw media storage while shooting instead of sd cards for my blackmagic camera. This way it also doubles as an important part of production, as well as fast/reliable editing.

Just buy hdd and copy the files to your pc internal ssd when editing. Ssd’s data is not permanent and it gets corrupted much more easily and faster. Do not use ssd for permanent storage

Fun fact, they'll screw u on warranties as it's cheaper to give u a refund than to replace the device that is now triple the original price

are you compressing anything when you transfer over to the LaCie or just a drag and drop? I run a similar system but find I fill up quickly

Raid is a pretty good option too, striped raid gives you great speed. Personally I use for long term storage as Raid 1 for redundancy

As a DIT. The difference is write and rewrite speed. For those who don't understand... it's difference between how long it takes to get your info transferred

for what it's worth, I found the Terra Master d2320 to be extremely fast and affordable for a spinning disc system. Great video though

IT SUCKS! I wanted to get a Samsung SSD for editing so it’s faster but it’s just as expensive in Malaysia RM1-3k 🥰 (I know it’s AI’s fault)
