@jt_unanchored: In America, an ambulance ride can cost up to $3,000. In Japan, it's free. And it's not a one-off — it's the whole system. Having a baby here runs about $20K, and even with good insurance you're still out ~$2,700. In Japan, the government hands you a $3,400 grant that usually covers the entire birth — and they're rolling out a plan to make childbirth completely free. We're not moving for the cherry blossoms. We're moving so one bad day at the ER doesn't wipe out our savings. What's the most ridiculous medical bill you've ever gotten? 👇 #movingtojapan #medicalbills #costofliving #usavsjapan #expatlife
I had my son for free! My insurance covered the entire pregnancy, hospital stay (4 weeks) and my 6 months maternity leave. I know this isn’t everyone in the USA ; but it’s possible with proper insurance

Don’t worry, George covers all ambulance costs. And I don’t think you understand how Japanese system works.
