I work with the VERY well known Federal Insurnace that ends in "care" ironically. My hardest calls are the ones where an elderly person will be balling their eyes out begging for someone to help them and the system is so confusing and difficult to navigate. Life saving treatment is delayed because "Insurance" and no one cares about these people and no one is going to do anything for them. No one in the government, private or public sector is going to do anything. No one cares unless they're personally affected and the people that DO CARE are purposefully put in 0 positions of power or they get ostracized for "doing the right thing" I cannot begin to tell you how many people have told me to stop doing the right thing because it's going to "cost me my job, get me in trouble, etc". Doing the right thing IS NEVER the wrong thing to do. Look in the mirror and be the change you wish to see in the world.
