You're right. Better to ignore when someone is being rude just get a reaction. I think at some point it matters what people start to think. There are groups who intend to spread lies about vulnerable people, black, lgbtq, women, etc... Things start small, get bad real quick. When enough people believe the lies, people with power can start taking away rights.
