@thelisakays: The tendency to gaslight ourselves becomes evident when we see how rare it is to have differing opinions supported or validated—particularly if we’re naming something a group/family/community doesn’t want us to see. #MentalHealth #women #narcissisticabuserecovery #peoplepleaser #boundaries
I love this story & it gave me a new perspective on a work situation where I’ve felt unsupported. It is surrounding child care/ educational setting. Ive worked in special education as a paraeducator for 7 yrs. My coworkers are between 19-25yrs old. We are at an after school program, I’m a lead instructor but not their supervisor or manager. They have a difficult time hearing when I give input surrounding a student I normally don’t work with, but I can tell within 5 mins if a student has different needs or might need accommodations that would benefit everyone. My view is at a different angle that they can’t see.

Heart & Soul Pilates :
I love this and as a Pilates instructor, studio owner, educator and mentor I am always looking for ways to encourage this ‘individuation’, again, you are giving me language and words that I did not have before! Just yesterday I had two students in two seperate group classes with active injuries and obviously in some pain who I kindly kept encouraging to listen to their body’s and gave them lots of adaptations and choice in the movements and it is always interesting to witness how challenging this can be for the individual. It took like 3 or 4 times of me saying things like it’s ok to take a rest or do less and there’s no shame in taking care of yourself before they got it and felt comfortable turning their focus more inward. I totally get it! Pilates has been one of these ‘low stakes’ experiences where I get to build this inner resource in my own practice and as an instructor and mentor to other instructors. I also don’t hear about a lot of other Pilates instructors encouraging students to do their own thing because it either makes them feel out of control or confused or distracted which I also can understand! I’ve been teaching for a decade and practicing for two so it is not exactly my first rodeo lol thank you for helping my brain have words to validate my experiences!
