I think that for Davis's growth, he cant be with AJ. im starting to like him, but part of his plot is becoming a bit less of a dick and unpacking some misogyny he had. aj helped him with this, which is why him being able to give her respect without dating is very important, and having a romantic relationship with her shouldnt be so interwoven with becoming less of, well, a sexist. If they end up together, I think its like the woman is being treated like a "reward". I really really like Davis's character towards the end, and what id rather happen in season 2 is that he meets someone new as the person he is becoming, and that this new girl loves him for that.
