He is the only saint, together with the Blessed Virgin Mary, whose birth is celebrated in the Church’s liturgical calendar, highlighting his unique role in salvation history. St. John the Baptist pointed not to himself, but to Jesus, declaring, “He must increase, but I must decrease” (Jn. 3:30). His life of humility, courage, and fidelity continues to inspire Christians to bear witness to the truth, even in difficult times. He is the patron saint of countless cities, towns, parishes, and communities throughout the world, including many places in the Philippines. He is also invoked as the patron of converts, preachers, baptizers, and those seeking spiritual renewal.
