Try to take all your main photos before the whole walking the stage side of things. So get there a bit earlier than you planned. Particularly if it is in summer as sitting in that room for 1-3 hours you get hot, things start not sitting right (hair, makeup etc). Numbing cream for your feet if you’re wearing heels. A tactical pair of flip flops for if you need to switch out of the heels at any point. A safety pin to pin down the gown mine kept riding up and it drove me nuts. Save a load of inspo pictures you want to take and then you can show them to a friend/family member when they take your photo so they understand what you’re looking to achieve. Walk slower than you think you are - nerves/excitement depending on which side of the scale you’re sitting on can make you walk faster than you realise so slow down think graceful it will slow you down. A fan. If they do a live stream if you can get someone who is not attending to watch it and screen record when you walk across the stage. (If your uni charges for the footage (some do some don’t)). For the professional photos if you’re trying to do it cheap get the digital versions and you can print them in any print shop or you can buy a mixture ie digital of all but a single one with a frame or whatever you want. Also on the note of photos don’t pay for any professional touch ups do it yourself (again if you’re wanting to do it a bit cheaper) Have a small accessible bag of your like essential makeup eg lipstick or whatever. Figure out your phone situation don’t walk across the stage holding it, some options for example are: leave it on the chair or give it to a family member beforehand but do what you think is best for you. When you walk into the room locate your family members so you can wave or look at them as you’re walking across the stage. Lots of the graduation halls and stuff have bad connection so try not to leave things unplanned - meeting spots etc. I feel like I could go on but I realise this might come across as overwhelming in reality it’s such a special day and you don’t need to faff enjoy your day it truly is an accumulation of everything you’ve achieved. Take a look into the crowd a few times as you’re crossing the stage! It really makes you feel so proud of yourself. Everyone is clapping for YOU because of your achievement. I did it a few times as I walked. It was the best piece of advice I was given xx

bring a handbag with you!!! if your grad is in summer like mine was, your hair can get hot under the cap lol so bring a brush so the cap doesn’t leave lines on your hair in photos!! also speaking of photos - if you’re getting professional ones done, go before grad. less queues, you look fresh and it’s just the best

graduated today in 25°!!! take a fan, water and a tote bag as you get handed so much stuff! also, pre plan where you want photos and a meeting spot for after the ceremony as i wasted so much time trying to find people. ans most of all, ENJOY IT!!! it goes by so fast, so enjoy every second because you did it💫💫

Please please please please PLEASE get to the ceremony on time!! I work at GCU’s graduations and the amount of people who get turned away because they’re late is so sad. But the ceremony isn’t gonna wait for you so be there on time!! This goes for your whole day - it goes by a LOT quicker than you think
