With the anniversary, the ultra skin prices etc, its clear they dont see MR as a threat anymore and thats pretty bad, to me personally MR already does skins better and they have third person so you always see it, and then you have statements like this? Rivals being better made OW actually put in effort to catch up, and that was the best thing that's happened for OW in years.

And overwatch is just way better. Marvel rivals lost 98% of the players 6 months after release because it os just a ripoff with the marvel logo in the title.

marvel rivals and ow have a very healthy competitive scene in which both games are similar and enjoyable yet different enough to keep its audiences | the ultraskins tho are crazy for what is basically a simple legendary in rivals which irritates me

When it comes to gameplay stuff like perks or stadium they had nothing to do with rivals. They’ve been in development for awhile. We’re starting to see it about now or even in about half a year. Dropping the 2 and trying to fix the branding of the game is definitely a response to rivals. I do hope they keep making huge changes next year I’m excited for both but mostly Overwatch

The perk system was actually in development before Marvel Rivals came out. Though the increased hero releases was directly inspired from Marvel Rivals.

I started playing rivals again and I wish it could work as a back and forth, ow is dominating over rivals but they aren’t clapping back in terms of meaningful change or smth to keep anyone interested which is kinda sad

That's why for example dbd could use some competition in their field of games, it always works for the better for both of the games

I don’t think perks was because of rivals necessarily, something like that was probably in development for a long time before rivals but maybe just fast tracked it

They should had never invested in a pve type style for the game instead they could have made way more money by upgrading the game from the bad state they left it in and use the resources they wasted in the pve into a series

I think that the 2025 overwatch content was, at most, hurried up a bit by Rivals’ release, but that stuff was already in development bc they were rescuing the scraps of their PvE work. 2026 overwatch content (especially 10 heroes) is 100% a direct response to Rivals’ release schedule.
