That's not true. After the slavery was abolished, ex slaves in Jamaica were offered the opportunity to returned to Africa. Many took the opportunity and were sent to Sierra Leone, a town called, Free Town.

They were never Jamaicans. They were just Africans who ran away from work and so they got shipped off to other places that they were born in Jamaica. Jamaica was more of established country and they didn’t want to be a part of it so therefore they were never Jamaican.
