My son's first reaction was 6 hours after he ate it, then 30 minutes the next time & then 20 seconds the next time. Every time they eat it their tolerance goes down and the reaction comes quicker x

I was always told it’s more the second time they have it than the first.

Just be wary that it’s often not the first exposure. My son had a fairly big reaction to eggs on the 3rd try, and a small reaction to peanuts on about 4th or 5th try.

Bro you do not just give it to them on a spoon. That’s a choking hazard. You mix it in with masked bananas, applesauce, smoothies, yogurt or literally ANYTHING

just a thought for the next time you give Leo an allergen but it's good to do it in the morning so you can monitor throughout the day for a reaction. my baby had a super random reaction to white potato but it was 4 hours when the reaction started.

The second time is usually when it happens. I always do a skin test before giving new foods but that’s my personal preference.

Nurse here- when testing kids for allergies, try to do it earlier in the day so you're not putting them to bed overnight unsupervised.

Two pieces of advice, They don’t always have to eat it. I did a skin touch first on the hands so I could closely watch the skin and always do it during the early morning. That way you have excess time to watch them

Always test for allergies outside of a hospital

It’s recommended to test allergens as early in the day as possible so you can monitor them throughout the day because it could take some time for a reaction to show. Apparently it is also likely for reactions to actually show up the second or third time of testing (rather than the first exposure). Good luck xxx

I’m so scared to do solids with my baby. Her dad is allergic to peanuts, celery and banana. He’s also lactose intolerant so she’s not really hitting the jackpot here 😅

Hey just wanna share my experience, when I was a baby I didn’t react the first few times and then one time I started to get small red dots around my face and since three I’ve been anaphylactic but goodluck and all the best with the allergen testing 🥰

I can’t imagine how scary that is! Few suggestions, skin test first, oral test in the car outside the hospital, offer three days in a row, and do it early in the day so there’s no reaction when everyone is sleeping. 🥰

I didn’t have a peanut allergy show up until I was in my early 20’s. Granted it wasn’t anything more than an itchy throat etc after eating but went and had the proper test done and it showed a slight allergy. Didn’t touch peanuts for years decided to try again down the track and the allergy disappeared. touch wood still to this day I can eat peanut/peanut butter and have no reaction.

You need to give an allergen 3 day in a row since a reaction doesn’t always happen the first time and a delay reaction is also possible up to 72h after exposure

I would suggest doing this in the morning next time as the reaction can be delayed. You don’t want it to happen over night whilst everyone is asleep. X

I was told at the er that allergies are not hereditary! But actually I just looked it up because I didn’t want to spread misinformation and now I don’t know what to believe. I personally only tried new foods in the morning so I could monitor them all day because I had anxiety about something happening when they were sleeping
