@thulamelamunicipality: Compliance Team Descended on Non-Compliant Supermarket in Thohoyandou The Thulamela Local Municipality Compliance Team descended on a supermarket in Thohoyandou following reports of non-compliance with municipal by-laws. The business was found to be trading on the pavement, obstructing pedestrian movement and unlawfully occupying public space. The operation forms part of the municipality’s ongoing efforts to enforce by-laws, promote orderly trading, and ensure that public walkways remain accessible and safe for all residents. Business owners are reminded to conduct their operations within designated areas and to refrain from displaying goods on pavements and other public spaces without the necessary authorization. #ByLawEnforcement #ComplianceDrive #OrderlyTrading #CleanCBD #ThulamelaMunicipality
I am very shocked and surprised by how municipality reacts instead of being proactive. Those shops have been operating just a stone throw away from their offices for a long time under their watch. Municipality should have issued a notice of non compliance to all those businesses including fines. And ensure that those businesses operate with required permits

Generally, a South African municipality cannot take your belongings or cut your services without prior formal notice. They are bound by specific municipal by-laws and national laws that require a fair process, giving you time to settle disputes or debts before they take adverse action.
