Down Memory Lane 🔵❤️ A letter from Najjera ✍️ Friday, 10th July, 2026 This is indeed an iconic photo. Presenters of Nation Television Uganda NTV under the Nation Media Group NMG, operating in East Africa circa 2006. Standing from left-right Malcom Musiime the only man standing holding the fort at the Serena Hotel based TV station, Malcolm reads business news for the longest time NTV has been in existence, Epenu Gabriel used to read 9:00PM English news with alot of passion ever with a smile on his youthful face. Gabriel's career was cut short when he got involved in a nasty accident around Seeta, near Mukono that claimed life of his friend whom was traveling with that left him in a vegetative state till today. Maurice Mugisha started an an English news anchor for 9:00PM prime news. Mugisha has since moved on to become Deputy Managing Director of State owned Uganda Broadcasting Corporation UBC a long Nile Avenue a spitting distance from Serena Hotel. Solomon Selwanja a fine investigative reporter at NTV moved on into private practice and is now an executive director of the African Institute of Investigative Journalism (AIIJ). He now days has a program on NBS TV called

Frank Walusimbi- probably the best Luganda news reader at 7:00 PM's 'NTV Akawungezi' to ever grace the silver screens. Calm and collected Frank's approach to News reading was un matched and it endeared even non Baganda to enjoy his news reading. After so many years at it, Frank moved on to become a communication specialist at United Nations High Commission for Refugees UNHCR where he is earning handsomely. Joel Khamadi a graduate of interior design was the face of NTV Sport and also doubled as an English news anchor for the NTV @1 who lator crossed to the rival station NBS TV - NBS Sport- a 24 hour sports channel which has since folded. His whereabouts are unknown. Seated from left to right is Nancy Kacungira very calm, collected with a winning streak attitude. Nancy, read 9:00PM prime news at Serena based station for many years after she moved to London to work as presenter and reporter at the prestigious British Broadcasting Corporation BBC. Nancy presented ''Focus On Africa '' program on BBC from 2017- January 2019. She is sister to media personnel Seanice Kacungira who worked at Sanyu FM 88.2 for many years and hail from Ibanda, western Uganda. Faridah Nakazibwe probably one of the best and loved Luganda news readers in Uganda's media history. Faddy as she is fondly called brought together both urban and rural viewers to come home early to watch her Luganda News on "NTV Akawungezi' for very many years. Faridah has a huge following on Social media and has been signed ambassadorial gigs where she earns so handsomely. After so many years Faddy, threw in the towel and hung the mic and went straight home where she is enjoying motherhood. Rukh-shana Namuyimba Kitaka started off as an English news anchor at NTV where she appealed to many viewers with her infectious smile for many years. After some time she crossed to NBS to read English news for 8 years at the same time she was communication and Events manager at DFCU Bank before quitting into private life. Rachael Arinaitwe now Rachael Mwine also used to read 9:00 PM English news usually with Maurice Mugisha or Gabriel Epenu. She retired from active journalism married a media personality Ben Mwine. Lastly is Josephine Karungi who also used to read 9:00PM English prime news at the station. Her and Maurice were such a good combination and had great chemistry while reading news especially the '' NTV Weekend Edition''. Josephine retired from news anchoring now she is working as a media and communications consultant at the World Bank Uganda.
