During my youth service days, some colleagues managed to send me to the restroom to cry my eyes out because I couldn't keep myself from showing that I am a naturally zealous, dedicated and teachable person. At some point, I withdrew and stopped showing up at work because I didn't want them to keep saying I was doing too much... or trying to make them look lazy. Now, I know better.

I really hate when people use certain words to mock people who are genuinely trying and putting in the work. To me, it says more about their own insecurities than the person they’re criticizing. Instead of supporting someone who’s making an effort, they try to bring them down.
