they would if they could have! the government just tax everything! makes you wonder at a deeper level what the fascination is with GDP and the size of the economy. if you just inherited your parents or grandparents house you'd only have to work for food, gas/electric. it'd be so much easier

my family has been impoverished for more generations than I can trace back to. imagine my surprise when I found out it didnt matter how hard I worked, it would take generations to climb out. I was so mad that nobody before me even tried, even if it didnt matter. I had three kids before I realized this. I feel so bad for them, but I gave it my all to make sure they had better than me. we're still in poverty, but I've been able to lift them a little higher. they may or may not end up wealthy, or middle class at least, but I've taught them about generational poverty and how their children will definitely do well if they raise them right. somewhere in the distant future, someone will be grateful that their great, great, grandfather tried to correct the course. that he devoted his life to breaking the cycle and to make our name mean something in some small corner of the world. Who knows, maybe one of them will be president one day. I know they'll eventually forget the sacrifices it took, and somewhere down the line, they'll squander all the family effort... but I will never be one of those people from my bloodline's past that didnt even try.
