@fatimah.al_akhbariyya: Imam Jaʿfar al-Sadiq (a.s.) asked Yaʿqub: “Have you ever seen an owl out during the daytime?” Yaʿqub replied: “No.” The Imam asked: “Do you know why?” He replied: “No.” The Imam said: “During the day, owls do not eat, even though Allah has provided food for them. When people ate food, the owls would come close to them. People would give them some food and water, and then the owls would return to their homes. But after Imam Husayn (a.s.) was martyred, the owls left the towns and began living in ruins, mountains, and deserts. It is as if they were saying: ‘What a terrible nation you are! You killed the grandson of your Prophet.
