@nextpresidentug: Expanding all kampala roads.𝗠𝘂𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘇𝗶 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗞𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗹𝗮 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝗶𝘅 𝗼𝗿 𝗘𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘀 Chief of Defence Forces Muhoozi Kainerugaba has announced plans for a major expansion of Kampala Road, saying the current road network is no longer adequate for the city’s growing population and traffic demands. In a series of posts on X, Muhoozi directed that all funds allocated for road construction in Kampala be handed over to his office within a week, adding that Kampala Road must be redesigned and expanded as a matter of urgency. He said the project should deliver at least three lanes on each side of the road, bringing the total to six lanes, with the possibility of increasing to eight lanes in the future. Muhoozi stated that the works would be financed using Uganda’s own resources and implemented by UPDF engineers. He also claimed that money previously lost through corruption and mismanagement should instead be used to improve the city’s infrastructure. The CDF further suggested that buildings and properties standing in the way of the expansion could be relocated if engineers determine it is necessary, arguing that Kampala cannot continue relying on road infrastructure designed decades ago.
