it was not a troll, trolls are huge. This sounds like a Darkling which is similar to Doby from Harry Potter, or possibly a Gnome. I have run up on each as well as fairies. These are dimensional beings that live in their dimension parallel to ours and where the veil is thin they can crossover

Well there could be some truth to that story , I'm 55yrs old from Deep South Texas 4min from the border and my family Lived on 30 acre ranch and the brush and wooded area where our cattle would graze our Dad would tell us about a certain part of the ranch that we would have to leave berries every day we never questioned our dad till he passed and we had to sell my sister told me that little people lived in that part of the ranch's corner she said they were about 10/12 inches tall.🤷🏻♂️

I saw a 5 inch fairy in Riverside CA. It looked like a tiny human with wings. I was in the parking lot at a grocery store and it flew right past me.

Idk man, Michiganders in the upper peninsula (“Yoopers”) call those from the lower peninsula “Trolls” because they live under the Mackinac Bridge. Given that context, it is possible that there could be a misinterpretation somewhere in the story
