So basically Putin is saying, sure, we’ll talk peace, but only if the talks start from terms Russia already likes. That is not the same thing as saying, let’s end the war fairly. It’s more like, we will negotiate, but only after you accept the ground we’ve already taken and the conditions we already pushed before. Putin is trying to make Russia look reasonable while still holding the same hard line.

There was no agreements in Istanbul. He is lying. It was a list of demand and capitulations for Ukraine. Ukraine refused their unrealistic terms. Russia is burning and Crimea is nearly isolated. 6 months more and Russia will become more reasonable after they get hit harder
