@c5news: Newly released footage shows the moment a man uses a homemade blowtorch to set fire to his neighbour’s door as she and her teenage daughter cowered inside. Luke Allen was caught on CCTV hammering on another resident’s door at the Burgate Apartments in Canterbury with a saucepan, while shouting racial abuse, on 7 July 2024. The 31-year-old, who suffers from serious mental health problems - including schizoaffective disorder, was sentenced to an indefinite hospital order at Canterbury Crown Court on 5 June. The court was told Allen, who has 16 previous convictions, first approached the woman and her 14-year-old daughter in a communal area, and shouted in an “aggressive manner”, “causing them to become extremely scared”. The pair locked themselves in their flat, but Allen continued to racially abuse them and smash on their door. He then returned with an aerosol can and a lighter and used it like a blowtorch to set fire to the woman’s door.
