Salomey Awity Baffoe (also referred to as Salomey Bafoh Awiti or similar variants), a 40-year-old senior nursing officer and mother of three, works at the Abrafi Women and Children’s Hospital in Techiman (Bono East Region), where she heads the emergency ward. She lived in Hansua, near Techiman. On the night of Sunday, 13 September 2026, around 11:30 p.m., three people (two men and one woman) dressed in black uniforms and identifying themselves as National Security operatives arrived at her home. According to her brother, Antwi Francis, they did not present a warrant or clearly state the reason for the arrest. They simply took her away, saying they were taking her to the regional command. Her family lost contact with her and initially could not confirm her whereabouts; local police and National Security in the region also reportedly denied knowledge of the operation at first. The next day, her mother (who lives in Jema) received a call from someone claiming to be linked to Kintampo South National Security. The caller alleged that she was “the mother of Ghana Jollof.” Officers later visited the mother’s house with the same claim. The family has strongly and consistently denied any connection. They described Salomey as a professional nurse focused on her work and children, not involved in politics or social-media activism. Salomey was eventually produced in court. On Thursday, 17 September 2026, she appeared before the Adenta Circuit Court (sometimes called Adenta Complex Court). She was charged with abetment of crime—specifically, publication of false news—under Ghana’s Criminal Offences Act. The police charge sheet alleged that she acted as a liaison for Barbara Asantewaa Kodua (“Ghana Jollof”), helping to disseminate the account’s videos by recruiting others to redistribute and circulate them on social media. She pleaded not guilty. Her lawyer (Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah) challenged the detention, noting that authorities had told the court the main operator was in the UK and questioning why Salomey was being held.
