@itsthatlady.dev: I’m so tired of seeing vibe coders lose their work because they don’t know proper branching strategies. Branching is still pretty important, especially with building with AI. This prevents you from losing your work! Let me know, are you still using git and branching when building? I do it all the time - especially when building for clients. #vibecoding #ai #git #creatorsearchinsights #codingtips
You can roll back even if you push to main. For small projects, there’s no problem with pushing to main. Features, staging, etc are important once your app is in production.

Who does that on a personal project? You're missing alot of context also main means nothing it main isnt doing the releases. you can have main be staging if you want but treating like its sacred is silly just do semantic versioning, test pipelines, precommit rules, coverage and test requirements before pushing anything to any production branch so you will find a break before any release. Additionally you dont need a pr for everything having a pr for documentation updates is kinda dumb. make informative commits , roll back commits see where changes broke with regression testing to make sure it's easier to find what broke and reroll the release. each release should have notes about fixes, depreciation, changes. if you are keen on the idea of main being sacred just have the default branch be your dev branch and once everything is done push a release automatically with gating otherwise you'll end up with a bunch of do nothing prs. everything works together to make sure each code has a certain quality, formatting, and testing. its a great idea to understand how to do it for collaborative work but you can do what ever you want a pr is pointless if theres no actual review by the same person who made it that's why you do testing just gate that however you like

Push to main if you're building solo, doing otherwise is pointless overkill

Noob here, I’ve been working off of two branches, main and develop. Anymore than that and I start to get lost and confused in my own project. 😅 Any tips?

A staging branch is overkill if you're a small team of 2 to 3 people. Everything you said is valid: feat branch -> dev branch -> main branch

I find these principles not applicable to infrastructure as Code.
if anyone has done IaC before (preferably AWS CDK) please let me know what branching strategies you used.
Thank you.

Vercel automatically creates preview deployments for pushes and pull requests, while merges to the production branch publish to the production domain.
