Vedic culture is nourished by contradiction. Krsna was not dark skinned like a dark skinned black African or Indian. He was bluish dark, but also effulgent (light). He's the most attractive being. Yet his eternal consort, Radharani, is even more attractive. And her complexion is golden. Globally, fairer skin is almost universally considered more attractive. That is not to say someone with dark skin cannot be very attractive as long as they have exquisite features; and that occurs dramatically less frequently.
