@thebritspot: The UK government has officially ruled that live boiling of decapod crustaceans is "not an acceptable killing method" and announced a full ban coming into effect by 2030. Experts have welcomed the plan, saying: "When live, conscious animals are placed into bolling water, they endure several minutes ot excruciating pain. Inis is torture and completely avoidable. Humane alternatives, like electrical stunning, are readily available." The UK now joins Switzerland, Norway, New Zealand and Austria in a list of countries that already prohibit boiling crustaceans alive. "We are overjoyed that lobsters and crabs will now receive the legal protection they are entitled to," animal welfare activists further said.
