As someone who lacks any artistic talent but massively appreciates it in others, “untitled” feels like an inside joke the author doesn’t want me inside of. Like, because I’m a casual observer, the artist thinks that I don’t deserve context or even hints. I need to understand it immediately or I’m too dumb to ever understand it at all.

As a musician, this is ridiculous. We have to think of band names, album names, AND song names but you can get away with “untitled”??? So unfair >:|

For me and my work it's literally the opposite. I put in all that work, the blood, sweat and tears and than for it to not have a name? It feels disrespectful to my work.

@Gina Axlund: Some works have a title even before they’re finished. Some are just not so obvious and I need to be a bit creative with the title, and some are just … blank, nothing there. They go to team untitled.

i think the same kinda goes into "explain your work" especialy as an animator, bro I was trying to make this move properly for days, i'm pretty sure i had to embody a bald chicken at some point, i had a ridiculous deadline and 12 other projects to finish + social and domestic responsabilities, idk what i did, i had a deadline, some questionables directions, lack of nutrition and an undying wish to be done with it I just moved my body in front of a computer until something decent came out😭

Titling things is actually a marketing skill, not necessarily a creative one. so artists shouldn't feel bad about not being good at it because it uses a different part of your brain.
